Reno is the county seat of Washoe County, Nevada, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 180,480, making it the second-largest city in Nevada. Current census estimates, however, show the city's population has grown to 210,255 as of 2006, but the city is now the third largest in the state, following Las Vegas and Henderson.[1] Reno lies 26 miles (42 km) north of the Nevada state capital, Carson City, and 22 miles (35 km) northeast of Lake Tahoe in the high desert. The area of western Nevada and the California Sierra Nevada anchored by Reno has a population of approximately 650,000. Reno shares its eastern border with the city of Sparks. Reno, known as "The Biggest Little City in the World", is famous for its casinos, and is the birthplace of the gaming corporation Harrah's Entertainment. Reno residents are referred to as "Renoites."

Before the late 1950s, Reno was the gambling capital of the United States, but in the last twenty years Las Vegas' rapid rise, American Airlines' 2000 buyout of Reno Air and the growth of Indian gaming in California have somewhat reduced its business. Older casinos were either torn down (Mapes, Nevada Club, Harold's Club, Palace Club) and smaller casinos like the Comstock, Sundowner, Golden Phoenix, Kings Inn, Money Tree, Virginian, and Riverboat closed, and some converted to condos.

Reno has recently seen the opening of many businesses that cater to socializing and after-work activities, as new and old Reno locals have slowly reclaimed parts of downtown from the waning glut of casino-bound tourists of yore. Many bars and nightclubs have moved into the area on West 1st and 2nd Streets between Arlington and Sierra in downtown Reno. This area is referred by some as the "West End," and is beginning to resemble bar rows seen in many larger, metropolitan cities. Though this growth has only been a recent trend, it has the potential to help retain local youth and invite new, young, urban professionals to Reno more permanently.

1. This room is based on the Anita Blake Vampire hunter Series, and the Merry Gentry series written by Laurell K. Hamilton. Some free thinking is allowed as long as its within the structure of the world Laurell K. Hamilton imagined. If you have never read these books then it is suggested you speak to one of the moderators/story tellers or players of the room. Reading the books is NOT a requirement of roleplaying here but it will help when things get confusing.

2. Checking the message board often is highly recommended as some things may be announced there that are not announced in the room.

3. We allow only one celebrity persona per character. Check the message board to be sure which is in use and choose one that is not taken. There are many celebrities out there and if you have trouble picking one the moderators or story tellers will be happy to assist.

4. You must be 18 years of age or older to play in this room. As such this is an adult room and adult sexual content is allowed. If you are under 18 please leave now. If it is discovered that you have entered and are underage you will be banned from the room and the site. Open sexual scening DOES happen in this room, don't like that learn to use the ignore function.

5. Role Play is meant to be a form of relaxation and recreation. If you have an issue OOC do not bring it into the room. Also we ask that the OOC comments in the room be kept to a minimum as to not disturb those role playing.

6. As in life, so it is here. No one is all powerful and thus nobody's character shall be all powerful. Powerful characters have been allowed in this room but with certain restriction. If you want to bring in a powerful character with the intent to overthrow the current role play we suggest you find another room for this. In other words NO GOD MODING.

7. Here in Dead Heat it is kill or be killed, as it is in the wild. If your character gets into a conflict and is the obviously the weaker party then your character will lose. However if your character gets into a conflict with another of equal power, or you are not sure as to who is the stronger, you may call in a moderator to decide the winner. In the end Moderaters will decide who lives and who dies in this room. But be advised, stupidity kills. If its decided that In character the death of a played character is appropriate, and logical to the rp, then yes...your character will die.

8. The moderators and story tellers are here to assist you, the player, in any way possible. Any questions should be brought to them. If they are not online then leave them a message on the message board and they will answer you as soon as they are able.

9. We prefer avatars be 450H x 600W. Avatars will be no bigger than 550H x 700W. There will be no exceptions

10. All characters coming into Reno are welcome to play, however no powers are allowed unless the character is first approved. You can ask Troubled1 for a two week trial period, at which time powers can be played but limited. if you ask for the two weeks please have a character sheet submitted by the time your two weeks are up. Please make sure to check the 'READ BEFORE POSTING A CHARACTER SHEET' thread on the message board. This is important as it gives you rules on posting your sheet.

11. In Reno we do watch for level of role play. If you submit a character of great power and are approved we expect your role playing to reflect that. If we see it lacking we will lower your characters level. Also if you bring in a weak character and through RP make them grow, we will permit you to level, Just ask a moderator when you believe your character is ready.

12. If you are wanting to play an alpha leader character we will expect you to spend a good amount of your time playing that character. All too often a character is made leader of a certain group and then is not played. That is not allowed here. If we see that happening we will warned you once, and then remove the character from its position.

13. You are welcome to have more than one character. We do suggest that you do not make more than you can handle as others roleplays may suffer from this. If you make a character and are not seen playing it after one month's time that character will be moved to the inactive list.

14. THIS IS NOT GOR! Gor role play is not allowed here, Gor does not exist here period. There are types of BDSM here but gorean style RP is not allowed.

15. WEAR A PROPER NAME. If you come in as anonymous, dots, or 'me' you will be asked to change once and then you will be booted. There will be no exceptions.

16. Above all we remind you that this is just role play. Please don't let it affect your real life. This is for fun and should not be taken seriously. RT comes first we all know this and as such if RT comes up and you are not able to play we only ask that you let one of the moderators know or post it on the message board.
